Whatcha Craftin’ ~ Absolutely Nuttin!!!

Yeah, yesterday was CRAZY busy and today has just been a total crash and burn so far and it’s only 10:24… It’ll probably take me an hour to write up this post, unless a MIRACLE happens and the kids leave me alone for 5 minutes straight…. soooo I guess I better get to it, huh?

I wanted to jump on today and say hello and give you a run down of some new project ideas I WANT to do. With me, I have to do things WAYYYY in advance to accomplish them…. last year Mark really wanted me to make the boys quilts for their big Christmas gift. He came up with the idea in October, i think. Yeah, they didn’t even get a quarter of the way done! I still have yet to get past cutting up the fabric for the FIRST quilt out of three!!! *SIGH* Needless to say, my goal this year was to give them those quilts for Christmas. It’s july and I haven’t touched the fabric since last November… They probably won’t get done, much to my husbands dismay.

Anyway, I’m talking about this because I happened upon a really COOL idea while on pinterest today…. I saw this pin and thought that was a really cool idea for the kids to learn and remember family members. We don’t visit our extended families a lot so they know the names, but they don’t always put the right names with the right faces. I KNOW Brynnan would LOVE playing this game! I’m totally going to make it, and soon! 🙂

While I was on this blog I saw another idea that I just fell in LOVE with:

artkit

This art kit idea. Isn’t it just AWESOME?? Brynnan would LOVE this, no doubt about that! And Jonas and Tinian would tolerate it because they love me:) I’m thinking that since the summer is almost over and we’re already so busy with everything else, I won’t really have time to make this up and enjoy it with the boys this summer. My plan is to start to preparing 3 of these cute little art kits my own way and style and then it can be a fun summer tradition. Every year I’ll put together new supplies such as a home made journal, crayons, markers, paints and some fun stickers and journal cards I can make with my silhouette. We’ll have a special place for them to keep their art kits and at a designated time they will be able to have “art camp”. My kids often will hate doing something unless I MAKE them do it so, by having a designated time for art every day, they actually enjoy doing it. They look forward to it. That’s how they are with reading. They know they have to read after lunch for AT LEAST 20 minutes. And they love reading! The only draw back is that if I ask them to read any other time they freak out, but we’re also working on that too:)

Since back to school sales are already hitting the stores this month I’m going to start stocking up on these supplies now so I don’t have to pay full price in the summer for them. If I tell myself to get this done now it gives me some leeway to actually get it done before summer! Knowing my procrastination level I probably will finish fixing up the kits the week school gets out and they’ll be all ready for the boys to enjoy all summer long! Yay!

So, as much as I would LOVE to be sewing and organzing and scrapbooking today, I think it’s going to be a lax day where all I do is clean and make up for the fact that I didn’t do ANY cleaning yesterday!! *SIGH*

Now that it’s been about 20 minutes since I started this post and I only got interuppted ONCE!!! (*GASP*), I am going to hit publish and go vacuum the family room. Why am I not making my kids do this? Well, number one is Jonas is somewhat feeling sick. I say somewhat because he says he’s feeling sick, but is just acting like a couch potato…. I think he’s telling the truth, but it still bothers me that at times it seems like he’s ok. Number two is because I would feel bad making Brynnan do tons of work while Jonas watches TV and plays on the iPad because he’s not feeling well. And number three, which is probably the biggest reason, I’m just tired of following the kids around making sure they actually do it and it taking twice as long as it would take me to do it!

I hope you’re having a better week than me! LOL It’s really not that bad, I guess Jonas could be REALLY sick and throwing up every time he tries to eat something. I guess I should be happy he’s not doing that. I will think about that for the rest of the day and hopefully it will help me feel better! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by! Come back tomorrow, I have a yummy guest post going live from a new blogging friend.
