Today I am going to get our school shopping done. Yes, it’s early and there might be better sales down the road, but the sales this week look pretty good to me AND we’re going to be gone until 5 days before school starts so I don’t want to have to worry about scrambling to get everything that weekend!
I took all 3 kids shopping at Walmart yesterday and it was a DISASTER!! Why is it that some trips are so much more worse than others??!! I really don’t get it. I tried rewarding them with candy, that didn’t work. I tried making them hold onto the cart, that didn’t work. It was just total and utter chaos for 30 minutes. I didn’t even have that much on my list!! I wanted to cry by the time we left!
So, today, I am going to venture out with them again, but I’m hoping it will be different. I’m going to give them a good talking to before we leave and when we get there. Explain the rules of this shopping trip. Do you wanna know my shopping rules?
#1. Do NOT touch anything without asking and waiting for an answer!!
#2. Stay close to the cart or hold onto the cart if I ask you to.
#3. NO touching without asking!!
They’re pretty simple and straight forward, as far as rules go. I’m hoping my 7 and 5 year old will comply with them so I won’t go insane this time!!
Like I said, we’re going to be school shopping. Staples has a bunch of great deals this week! They’re doing their awesome 1¢ sale going on this week. When you make a $5 purchase there are certain things you can buy for 1¢. I’ve made up my excel spread sheet of all the school supplies my kids need
I wrote down the deals for this week that I want to check out and most of them are at staples. I did most of my school shopping at Staples last year too and I saved a TON of money!! I don’t remember how much I spent last year, but my goal this year is $30. I’m not sure how well I’ll stick to that $30, but I’m gonna try. Brynnan and I went shopping for backpacks and lunch boxes last night. He really wanted to get a batman one of each and Toys R Us is doing their backpack sale, buy a backpack $12.99 and up and get a free lunch box (up to $9.99). I don’t think I saw any lunch boxes over that price, but the backpacks were kinda pricey. I had 2 coupons that equaled $8 and I paid $24 for 2 backpacks and 2 lunch boxes. Does that sound like a good deal? I’m still kinda thinking I might want to return them. LOL I have 4 backpacks and about the same lunch boxes in their closet. They’re all still in good condition so I was hesitant to buy new ones. What is your rule about backpacks? Do you buy a new one for your kids every year? I think it’s fun while they’re little, but I’m starting to think it’s getting to be too much money.
I’m only planning on going to Staples. I might find everything I want there so I guess we’ll just see how the sales are when I get there. I don’t get the paper anymore and I hate looking at ads online. I’m weird like that. OH, and I have a $5 off coupon on a $30 purchase so if I can buy everything I need there and get to $30 I’ll be under my desired budget! Woohoo! So, wish me luck. I’m sure we’ll be there for an hour, at least. Maybe I should just let the boys bring their Ds’s!! That’s a GOOD idea….
Thanks for stopping by!! I’ll come back later and update you on everything we bought and how much it cost. I’m actually getting excited about this trip to the store. I love finding good deals!! What deals are you finding this week?
I think $24 for backpacks and lunch boxes is a great price!! I’m planning on doing our back to school shopping at staples too but I haven’t seen the ad yet so let me know what you get! Good luck staying within your budget!
that is a great price for bags and lunchboxes! I’m not one to buy new every year. rosa used her lunchbox for 2 yrs..then it got real dirty icky. so i got her a new one. and backpacks? my plan is to buy a pricey llbean one and be done with it. i used mine for YEARS in school. but elementary doesnt really require much for school yet. but I don’t plan to buy backpacks unless they need bigger ones. some don’t hold much.
