Cultivating Creativity #1 ~ Be Inspired by Candy

Hello and happy Wednesday!! I am so glad it’s Wednesday! Haha! I feel like I’m drowning this week and am so excited for the weekend to be here. But, for today, I am excited to share a fun new series on my channel!

I have been doing a kit series on my channel with some friends on YouTube for the past year and it has been super fun! As the new year came around we started talking about maybe changing up the challenge a bit and doing something different together. We decided on a bi-weekly challenge that we will post on Tuesdays. Each time one of us will pick a new challenge and all work on that. It will be so fun to see how differently we are inspired each week.

So, for this first week, Khristina challenged us to be inspired by candy some way. At first I really wasn’t sure what on earth I was going to do, but then Hannah and I were talking and she mentioned I could be inspired by skittles or their little saying ‘Taste the Rainbow’. When she said that I mulled that around for a few days and then it hit me! My middle son Brynnan used to talk about how his favorite color was “100 colors”. It’s one of my favorite memories and I just KNEW that was what my layout was going to be about.

This is my finished layout. I’m so happy with how it turned out!! I used my December Clique kit and the Wonder collection Thickers.

I’m going to do the journaling on the card that I tucked in the glassine bag above the photo.

I really loved using this cut file from The Cut Shoppe. It’s one of my favorite alphas from her!

I put one of the cork butterflies from the newish Pink Paislee colledction, Moonstruck, in each cluster.

I kept each cluster really simple and I just LOVE the little pieces together in this top cluster.

I love this photo of Brynnan. It’s not actually an accurate photo of him at the time he said this, but I thought it was cute and it’s one that I had so I decided to use it.

These pretty acetate pieces in this cluster are from the Illustrated Faith collection called ‘You Are Loved’.

Scrappy Challenge

Hello my scrappy friends! I am back today with a fun scrappy challenge for you!! If you don’t already know, I have a group on facebook that I host with Roni Sue Scrapper called Scrappy Challenges and we like to do fun things to challenge us while scrapbooking. It’s been a while since we did a challenge so last week we picked one out and all scrapbooked using it. This time around Jennifer challenged us to scrapbook using a holiday themed collection without a holiday photo or a holiday photo with a non themed holiday collection. I chose to do the latter and I had so much fun using the newish Illustrated Faith You Are Loved collection.

This is the layout I ended up making. I really like how it turned out! This collection is super fun and has really bright and lovely colors.

The embellishments I used were from the Clique Kits December 2016 kit. I really love this kit that they put together!!

These acetate arrows were so cute, I just had to include them!!

I did a little bit of journaling about the photos and I really was happy with how I didn’t go over board with that. I have a tendancy to ramble on with my journaling, but this just flowed really well.

My title was simple and very straight forward. Sometimes, those are just the best title, at least in my opinion!

You can watch my process video below:

I hope you have a wonderful and scrappy week! Make sure to come on over to the facebook group to check out all the other layouts!

Scrap the Decade for Get It Scrapped

Hello and welcome back to my blog! I am up over on the Get it Scrapped blog today with some of the other fabulous Creative Team Members. Our assignement was to pick a decade and be inspired to scrap a page. I picked the 1980’s because, well, that was the decade I was born in.

I had also actually been thinking about a specific memory from that time, when I was about 2 or 3. Some of you might remember the Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls and how huge they were in the early to mid 80’s. My parents gave my sister and me a doll each and I vividly remember when my sister opened hers and what my dad said. Isn’t that crazy how there are little moments in life that stand out like that? I mean, I was 2 years old!!

Ok, so let’s move onto my layout:

When I first got this assignment I had immediately thought of the Wonder Collection, that’s a year or two years old. I had bought some of the papers and the alpha, but hadn’t used them yet. I was so excited to pull them out for this layout.

I found the photo in the top left in a pile of old photos my mom had sent me a few years ago. It was a Christmas picture, but not from the specific year we got the dolls. I was really excited to use it on this layout though because it does portray that it’s Christmas.

I then went to google, my trusty companion a lot of the time, and looked for images of Cabbage Patch Kids. I found the logo and this blonde haired doll and they were perfect!

I first started thinking I would title the layout something like ‘the 80’s’ or ‘a 1980’s Christmas’, but the more and more I thought about it I just really didn’t like them. I took to the internet to ask my scrappy friends and between two friends I came out with this title and I just love it!! ‘Proud Member of the Cabbage Patch Fad’, it’s so perfect!

We have teamed up with Accent Scrapbooking, a cute etsy shop, for a fun product swap! I had sooooo much fun using the flair she sent me from her shop!! For this hop, you should have arrived here from Beth’s blog. Don’t you just love how her layout turned out?!!
Your entire line up for today’s hop is:

Crafty Meggy   >>>>YOU ARE HERE <<<<

We decided to use this sketch by Laura Whitaker to make our layouts:

Don’t you just love it?!!

This is the layout I made with the sketch inspiration. I am SO in LOVE with how this layout turned out! I did a little flip of the sketch and made it a bit more me.

This cute little heart flair with the sequins inside of the heart is my absolute favorite!! Isn’t it just so cute?!!! I love it! I also used some of the sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps shop called Evergreen Bough.

I also did some mixed media on the background. I used a Tim Holtz stencil with some Sea U in the Mornin’ Dazzlerz

I absolutely LOVE this photo and wanted the focus to be on it. I really love the big 8 inch doily you can also get in the SMS shop. I used another cute flair from Accent Scrapbooking, a cork heart from SMS, a mini glassine bag, a 4 inch silver doily, green May arts burlap ribbon and a large manila tag.

This is the third cluster and I was so excited to be able to use another one of these fun flair badges!

Cut File Freebie and a Layout Process video Over at SpiegelMom Scraps!!

Hello and Happy Happy Monday!! Monday is actually one of my favorite days of the week, is that crazy/weird?!! For me Monday means back to a ‘normal’ schedule. The kids all go off to school, I have time to think without them asking every 5 seconds if they can play this or that electronic device and my husband goes back to work and I am FREE to do what I want to do. Not that I don’t get to do that over the weekend! lol I actually do have a lot of free time over the weekend, but I always feel so guilty about using it.

Anyway!! Wow, that was a very long winded intro! Ok, let’s jump into today’s video and post!

I posted over at the SpiegelMom Scraps blog yesterday. You can find that post here. I wasn’t able to post the video that went along with this layout though so that is finally up on YouTube today! Yay! You can watch that below or on my YouTube channel.

Thanks for stopping by today!! Don’t forget to check out the photos and explanation and thought process over on the SMS blog! Also, If you make a purchase at the shop you can use the code MEgan15 to get 15% off your order!

Cuts2Luv & SpiegelMom Scraps Blog Hop

Hello everyone, I’m here today for a very special blog hop! The Sparklers and I are very excited to announce our product swap with the fabulous flair shop, Cuts2Luv!! We have been planning this for months and are super excited the day is finally here!! Caroline, from Cuts2Luv, is a total a sweetheart and her flair are wonderful, so be sure to check her shop out HERE.
For today, I’m sharing a layout I created based off a sketch that Jody, the SMS owner and amazing scrapbooker, designed. I used this sketch as my inspiration and this FREE SpiegelMom Scraps cut file to create all my snowflakes. You can find the cut file HERE and the sketch can be saved right from this post.I also used some CUTE flair badges I was given for this swap. You can find them HERE.
Below is my take on this sketch:
I decided to flip it just a little bit. I had this red background paper from a Michaels Recollections paper pad, but there was a journaling area in the bottom right hand corner that I didn’t want to use. My solution was to flip the sketch and cover it up with the blue snowflake paper. I LOVE how it looks flipped like this!
I received 4 cute flair badges from Cuts2Luv and used 3 of them on my layout. They were mostly snow/winter based, which was fitting with the sketch and the photo I wanted to use.
I actually only used one photo and stretched it over 3 frames to use like the sketch suggested. I really love how the black mat just makes the snow pop off the page!
I wanted to use some mixed media on some of the snowflakes so I pulled out my Snow Way Man Vibez, Gummy Berry Blue Dazzlerz, and Foiled Again Dazzlers. I also used the Cozy sequin Mix.
Look at that cute snowflake flair!! Isn’t it just perfect?! I love it!!
I had a so much fun combining the products from these two companies. They look so awesome together! I hope you enjoy what I’ve created for you today and enjoy the rest of the hop! Remember to leave comments on all the designers blogs to be entered to win a couple fabulous prizes from each company!
Thanks for stopping by! Now you’re off to Sandra’s blog. I know you’ll just love her project!
You can also watch my process video HERE or below! I hope you have enjoyed this layout as much as I did!

December Daily Christmas Day!!!! Yay!! (Part 2)

Happy Saturday scrappy friends!! I hope you’re having a great January so far! I have my very last few pages in my December Daily to share with you today!

I just love this last couple of pages!! I had that cute little manila folder in with my December Daily kit and I’m so glad I remembered I had it!! I had a few pictures that I didn’t have enough pockets for so I stuck them inside this little folder.

I decorated the front very cute and simple and I LOVE it!!

This is how the inside turned out. I really love it! Watch the process video below to see the rest of the folder with the photos.

Thanks for stopping by!! I’ll be back soon with an album flip through.
