Scrapbook all the memories!

In Your Pocket Tuesday at The Crafty Maven Getaway

Hello, Hello again my friends!! I am back with another Pocket style scrapbook page for the Crafty Maven Youtube channel. You can find the process video here and also a few photos below.

I used a paper from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life collection called ’11 am’. I also used the Amy Tangerine ‘Finders Keepers’ ephemera.

I wanted to keep the embellishing simple, but cute. I used the same washi tape throughout the whole pocket page and the same enamel dots with a few ephemera pieces from the pack. The enamel dots I used are from Close to my Heart in Aqua.

I loved this cute little star, but since it was acetate glue would show through it so I decided to staple it onto the photo. I just used an every day stapler. Nothing fancy here at Crafty Meggy headquarters! lol

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Make sure to come on over to the Crafty Maven Channel to watch my process video!

August Clique Kits Layouts 1-7

Hello, scrapbookers!! I hope youre having a great start to your weekend! I sprained my ankle a week ago so I am taking it easy!

I wanted to jump on today and show you half of the layouts I made with my August Clique Kits Kit. I LOVED this kit soooooooo much! It was mostly the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss collection. I also used one of the free cut files designed to go with the kit. yay!

Lets jump right in:

This was the first layout I made for the Clique Kits Pep Rally. Its one of my favorites! I have a process video you can watch here.

This background sheet was from Crate Paper Poolside and I LOVED it! The chevron polka dot paper was my favorite patterned papers but I only got one of them so I decided to cut out the middle and use it to mat the photos on. I wanted to keep this layout simple to focus on the cute photos if my oldest son, Jonas, so I used a couple tags to embellish and thats all.

I used a Shimmelle collection paper for the background on this layout. I had way too many photos to go along wit this one so I decided to do a PL page and scrapbook only one photo on the layout. You can find the process video for this layout here.

This is the first side of the page. I embellished on two of the photos and really like the simple look. You can find the process video here.

The back side, I did a little more embellishing on this side, but still very simple.

This layout is my other favorite!!! I had fun using some mixed media on this layout! I used a stencil I made with my Silhouette Cameo, modeling paste and blue acrylic paint. I’m bummed, but I didn’t do a process video for this one.

For these next two layouts I did a little bit of embellishing, but I wanted the main focus to be the photos. I didn’t do a process video for this PL page either.

And this is another favorite layout! This one was very easy and I love the scattered diagonal of embellishments. No process video of this one either, unfortunately.
I am so excited about all of the layouts I got done with this kit! I really didn’t think Id get that many done but I did! I made 12 layouts and 3 Project Life spreads. I believe that’s a record! In this post I showed you 5 of the layouts and 2 PL spreads. I’ll be back tomorrow with the rest of the layouts I made with this kit.

Well, thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!!

School Themed Layout Review

Hello Scrapbookers!! Whew!! It has been a while since I have posted! I’ve been meaning to come on and write up tons of them, but life is just crazy! I can never get everything done that I want to, let alone NEED to!

Anyway, I came on today to share with you the layouts that I made for my School Themed Layout Challenge. I wanted to make at least 7 layouts and I did it! Well, I made 6 layouts and 4 Project Life pages.

This was my favorite layout from this series!! You can find the process video here. I used the Shimelle True Stories collection for these first 3 layouts.

These 2 layouts were a LOT of fun to make!! I only have the process video for the second page, but I just LOVE how they turned out!! You can find the process video here.

I decided to use the We R Memory Keepers Hall Pass Collection. This one had more dark and muted colors. This one was also dedicated to the school theme so that was a nice change between the two collections. You can watch the process video here.

The first Project Life pages, front and back, I made were of Brynnan’s class during field day last year. I did some journaling and a little bit of embellishing. I mainly just wanted to get the photos in a scrapbook so I wasn’t too broken up about not embellishing a whole lot.

I also got a bunch of pictures of Jonas’ class during field day last year so I did one layout and 3 PL pages, 6 including front and back. You can find the process video for these 4 pages here.

And this was the last layout I made. I don’t have a process video for this one, unfortunately. For this one I used the branding stripes from the Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss collection. I decided to use that collection instead of a school themed collection for this layout because Hannah Lemieux came up with a challenge during the week on our facebook group to use up any scraps you had on your desk. I was trying to finish up with using the August Clique Kit, which had this collection in it. I love how this layout turned out and the fact that it’s not really school themed. It was a fun layout to make. I got the idea from Maggiemylow on youtube.

I also did a layout review video if you’d like to go over to my channel and watch that! You can find it here.

Well, thanks for stopping by!! I hope you had fun looking at these school layouts and watching the process videos for them! I’ll be back tomorrow with some more recent layouts I’ve been making!

Project Life

I am back today with a couple Project Life layouts that I did a month or so ago. I came up with a new Crafty Challenge for myself, back in October and I’ve been trying to keep up with it. I’m not doing so well… but I am trying and that’s what counts, right?!

Anyway, my goal is to finish scrapbooking the year 2007 (yes, that is how behind I am! Some people say they’re SO behind, when really, all they are behind is by a few weeks. I secretly laugh at how they think they’re behind. Oh, buddy, they have no idea what being behind means! LOL) and to scrapbook 31 Project Life layouts by my 31st birthday, which is April 29th.

I’m actually going to change it up a bit here today. Instead of only scrapbooking the end of 2007 and 31 Project Life layouts, I’m going to scrapbook up to my 2008 birthday. I can do it! I totally believe in myself! I’m currently scrapping pictures from October 2007 so that would roughly mean I need to do scrapbook about 4 pages a week. I have a TON of photos, I could be off and need to do more or less, but I haven’t sat down and calculated how many pages I will need to accomplish to get through all my photos to my birthday, so, I’m kinda guessing.

I guess I should move onto the reason you came by today, my Project Life layouts. I’m really excited to show you these. I am in LOVE with how they turned out:

This was the very first layout I made. I used the Honey Edition Project Life kit by Becky Higgins. I just LOVE this kit!! I had fun picking out the embellishments to go with the cards from the kit. My favorite part about this layout has to be the title. I love how I split it up between the 2 pages and switched the placement of the “day” part of the title to be on the bottom of the second layout.

Dont you just love that face?!! 🙂 The bottom middle is my fav. LOVE those chubby cheeks!

And here’s the second page I made, well, technically I guess it’s the third:) I like how simple this page is and the colors are so awesome!! These cards are from the Cinnamon Edition Project Life kit and I’m so glad I bought it!! I LOVE all the browns and greys!!

So, there you have it, my first two project life pages.  I think I’m hooked! I really love how easy it is, but it still looks so cute! I can’t wait to finish up with 2007 so I can scrapbook more Project Life layouts!

Thanks for stopping by! Have a Wonderful Wednesday! 🙂

A New Crafty Challenge

Hello everyone!! I’m glad to be here with an exciting craft challenge idea for myself. I know a few months ago I came up with a new sewing challenge, to sew all of the patterns I have before buying any more. Well, that lasted about a day and then I got a good deal on some cute patterns for my boys, and you know me, I just couldn’t resist. I think that was the only slip up since making that promise to myself, but I haven’t really had a whole lot of time to sew lately and I’ve been getting more and more interested in scrapbooking again. I haven’t been using my Silhouette that much lately and that bothers me! I LOVE my Silhouette and I wish I had time to use it every day, but who has the time for that? If you do, PLEASE, tell me your secret!! I want to start using it! hehe

Anyway, I’ve decided to scrap the sewing challenge and move onto a scrapbooking challenge (Hehe, pun not intended:). I’ve been reading up a lot on project life and I finally made the plunge and bought my first Project Life kit last week! Ahhh!! So, I’ve been watching a lot of videos on youtube on how to get started on different organizing solutions and what not. I have yet to actually put together my first real Project Life page. I’ve been using the cards from the kit, but just in normal scrapbook layouts, not the project life ones. I need to finish up a few scrapbook pages before getting started in a full on Project Life Album.

So, my new challenge to myself is to scrapbook 31 pages in a Project Life Album by my birthday, April 29th.  Why 31? Well, because I will be 31 years old. I also don’t mean just one side as 31. A lot of times people count a project life layout as a two page spread since they scrap by the week. I don’t think I will be scrapping by the week, but I want to use this same page count idea. So I will actually have 62 pages completed total, but only count them as 31. Does that make sense? 🙂

I am stuck back in August 2007 and it’s driving me crazy! I want to finish scrapbooking 2007 the normal way and then I will start doing the Project Life kind of scrapbooking to start out the 2008 year. It’s a little bit different way of scrapbooking. I’ve never really done anything like it before so I’m a little nervous. If you know me, even a little, you know that I LOVE taking TONS of pictures!! If there’s an event in our life, you can count on me documenting EVERY second of it, and I like to put a lot of those pictures in my scrapbooks. So, you can see how I’m nervous about doing a Project life scrapbook. The way most people do Project Life is by the week. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a project life layout done day to day or event by event or moment by moment. It just makes me feel so confined to a certain way of scrapbooking and I don’t really like that idea. SO, I think I’m going to play around with it and get down a good routine for me. The reason I like the idea of Project Life is that it is all mostly done for you, you just pick out the colors you want to go with your photos, crop your photos and stick them in. That’s really what I need to get myself motivated to get caught up on my scrapbooking! I can totally do this! 🙂

This is my plan:

I’m working on August 2007 right now. I have a lot of pages already scrapbooked digitally so all I need to do is print them off and stick them in an album. The rest of the photos I already have printed I just need to put them on paper. I’m not going to count these pages as the 31 because I want to stick with the Project Life theme idea and see how well I like it. If I end up not liking it maybe I’ll go back and redo the challenge idea. We’ll see how it goes!

Since I have 5 months to get through in 2007 before I start on 2008 I am going to say those 5 months will take me 2 months to scrapbook. I’ll start working on my 31 Project Life layouts in December and that will give me 150 days before my birthday to finish the 31 pages. I figured out that I will have to do about 2 a day to get that many pages done. I don’t know about you, but my work flow often depends on my mood and what else I have going on in life, so of course that 2 page minimum per week isn’t a requirement, but more like a guideline and a hope. Some days or weeks I’ll only get one page done, most days it will be none, I’m sure, so the days I actually have time to scrap I will most likely be doing it really fast and crazy so I can get more done.

But, that’s my plan, scrapbook 2 pages a week starting December 1st. If I have time for more than 2 pages, great, if not, that’s fine. Really, what I want to get out of this challenge for myself is accomplishment. I want to accomplish this task I’ve given myself to preserve these memories I’m making with my kids and our family.

What do you do to keep up with scrapbooking your memories? Are you caught up or are you really behind like I am? I’ll definitely show you my progress as I go along. Here are a few pages I’ve done so far with my new Project Life core kit journal cards.

This is the first core kit I bought from Michael’s. They’re pretty pricey, $29.99, BUT you can use a 40% off coupon to make it a really good deal! I used a coupon and only paid $17.99. I also bought some of Becky Higgins’ page protectors 2 weeks ago when they were having a buy one get one free sale on album refill pages. So, basically I got $103.95 worth of products for only $54 (not including tax).

Here’s a look inside the kit before I opened up the little packages. It looks so pretty, doesn’t it?!! 🙂

This is the first page I made with the journaling cards.

Here’s the 2nd and 3rd layouts. I’m SO in love with these layouts! They took about 20 minutes each and that’s mainly because I was just looking through all of the journaling cards and figuring out what colors to use.

I made this card for my husbands birthday this past Friday. I thought it was nice to add the journaling cards from the kit. They just added a little extra something:)

Oh, and I have to apologize for the picture quality in this post. I wasn’t planning on blogging these pictures so I just used my phone. I’m addicted to instagram these days and that’s mainly what I took these pictures for. If you want to follow me on there look me up! I’m craftymeggy.

Well, thanks for stopping by! I’m off to do some more scrapbooking! Hope you’re having a great weekend!
