Scrapbook all the memories!

Cultivating Creativity ~ The Cheese & Lettuce War

Hello Hello again my friends!! I hope you’re having a great hump day so far!! I have taken a little hiatus so the rest of the week is going to be filled with process videos and posts. I hope you enjoy them!

Today I have a fun layout I made with Hannah’s challenge. She is a very photo driven scrapbooker and I love it! She wanted us to really focus on the photos this week and take some new photos from a different angle/view than we normally do. I usually take my photos straight on and I include a lot of the surrounding as well. With this challenge I decided to take a photo straight down on the subject. I really love how they turned out!

For this layout I decided to use a Get It Scrapped free sketch you can find here. I really loved the grid design and that there was a nice space laid out for journaling.

I used some flair badges from KJKareen’s etsy shop. I also used sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps shop as well as a May Arts String and the Heart felties.

I also decided to use a photo at an angle that I normally do, just to bring more of the surroundings into view, but the main focus is the 2 main photos of his plate.

I kept the journaling simple and I really loved how it turned out with the string at the top.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! You can watch my process video below:

Get It Scrapped ~ Humans Of New York Layout Inspiration

Hello scrappers! I have a super fun layout for you today! You can head on over to the Get It Scrapped blog to see my supply list, as well as the other team members who were inspired by this assignment.

If you’ve never heard of Humans Of New York (HONY) you can read more about it here. Basically, this photographer started photographing people on the streets of New York City. It has evolved into a world wide project where he tells the stories of the people he photographs. Our assignment was to make a layout based on the Humans Of New York photography project. I contemplated on what I wanted to do for this layout assignment for a long time. I eventually landed on making a layout about my middle son, Brynnan. I often feel like being the middle child he gets neglected, I don’t know what it is about the middle kid, but I really thing they don’t get as much attention. I decided to talk to him about doing a layout of him and seeing what story he wanted me to tell.

Well, his FAVORITE TV show right now is ‘Lego Ninjago’. He literally watches it every day for hours, if I let him. And he watches the same episodes over and over because Netflix only has a couple seasons available. Haha!

So, I took some photos of him playing with his little Lego Ninjago toys and had so much fun scrapping them.

This is my finished layout. I wanted to do some mixed media on the background behind the photos. I used Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Coral Me Crazy and Texturez Teal Me No Lies (I buy from the SpiegelMom scraps store, I’m on here design team).

I love this top cluster! I wanted to put Brynnan’s name on the layout, along with his age and this cluster helped ground that information.

I also used the 2 Cool 4 U sequin mix from the SMS shop.

I used a lot of rub-ons on this layout and it was so fun! I’m not really big on using them so it was a little bit out of my comfort zone.

I really love these cute little ephemera pieces from the December Clique Kits kit.

Instead of me doing the writing I had Brynnan write on a project life card. He doesn’t have the greatest handwriting and I didn’t want that to take away from the design of the layout so I decided to make a little pocket behind the photo to put the journaling card in. I stapled a little black polka dotted tag to the top and  I really love how it looks!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head on over to Get It Scrapped to check out the post highlighting all the layouts the creative team made. You can also watch my process video below:

I hope you are having a great week! If you didn’t know, I am hosting the annual Calvinball challenger in the Get It Scrapped forum. It’s not too late to sign up and have some fun with us! Come check it out here.

Shona Keehn blog                   >>>GO HERE NEXT<<<
So, let’s jump into my layout:
I had SO much fun making this layout!! I decided to use some cute hearts from Nicolle’s store. They go perfect with the title I decided on for this title.
If you’ve been following me for a while you will know that I’m obsessed with chevrons and arrows. I really love this pattern paper so I have to cut it up and make little arrow banners.
I just had a little bit of journaling for this photo and so I decided to hide it behind the photo in a glassine bag. I used a large tag from the shop to write the journaling and I added a May Arts String in Raspberry to the top of the tag to make it look pretty.
I felt like the cute heart chipboard needed a little bit of some oomph so I added some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Gold and I love how it looks on the layout! I used Pandora’s Ombre and Rockin’ Pink Ombre sequin mixes from the shop.
You can watch my process video here:

Cultivating Creativity #2 ~ Monochromatic

Hello and happy Tuesday! I hope you’re having a great day so far!! If you didn’t see my previous post go and check it out! I’m over on the Crafty Maven Getaway channel.

Ok, so let’s jump right into this weeks challenge! Sara is the one who came up with it and I LOVED making my layout!! I really wanted to use some of the new and old Valentine’s Day collections that I have in my stash so I decided to scrapbook some photos of myself so I could use the color pink and go totally crazy with it!

Voila! I used mainly the new Heart Day collection papers and embellishments.

I also used a pretty floral flair badge and a sequin mix from the SpiegelMom Scraps store called ‘Spring Blossoms’.

I used a somewhat old alpha set from Jilibean Soup. I love how the color closely matches the big background paper behind the photos.

I did some journaling on a little grid card and tucked it in this bottom cluster.

I had so much fun with this challenge! Make sure to come on over to YouTube and watch my process video. I will have links to all of the other ladies’ videos.

Get It Scrapped Sketch #119

Hello scrappy friends! I am up on the GIS blog today with a sketch layout. I really love how this one turned out! You can find the post here with the other layouts the creative team members made as well as mine.

This is the sketch, made by Debbie Hodge for Get It Scrapped. If you’ve never visited her website, you should come on over! I really love all the classes and everything she has to offer with her membership.

This is the layout I made with the sketch. I decided to only use 5 photos and the rest of the spots I filled with paper and journaling.

I used an old Pink Paislee Christmas/Winter themed collection, which was perfect for these photos. For the title I used ‘Marquee’ thickers from American crafts.

I had a lot to say in the journaling spot so it kind of spilled over more than I had wanted it too, but I’m glad that I wold the whole story.

I kept my embellishing to a minimum so you can focus on the photos as you look around the layout.

I really love that I decided to layer more than one pattern paper behind the main photo on the left. I love that they bring your eye to that photo first and then the title.

I really love capturing these fun winter memories of my boys!

You can watch the process video below and the blog post is over on Get It Scrapped here.

In Your Pocket Tuesday at The Crafty Maven Getaway

Hello, Hello again my friends!! I am back with another Pocket style scrapbook page for the Crafty Maven Youtube channel. You can find the process video here and also a few photos below.

I used a paper from the Amy Tangerine Oh Happy Life collection called ’11 am’. I also used the Amy Tangerine ‘Finders Keepers’ ephemera.

I wanted to keep the embellishing simple, but cute. I used the same washi tape throughout the whole pocket page and the same enamel dots with a few ephemera pieces from the pack. The enamel dots I used are from Close to my Heart in Aqua.

I loved this cute little star, but since it was acetate glue would show through it so I decided to staple it onto the photo. I just used an every day stapler. Nothing fancy here at Crafty Meggy headquarters! lol

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! Make sure to come on over to the Crafty Maven Channel to watch my process video!

Hip Kit Design Team Application Layout

Hello my scrappy friends!! I have a fun and exciting layout for you today! I have decided to apply for the Hip Kit Design Team. I really absolutely LOVE this kit club! They always have such fun kits and use the newest collections in their kits and I love seeing all the amazing layout everyone makes.  I had so much fun making this layout to submit to them!! I think it’s one of my favorites I’ve made recently.

So, lets go ahead and jump right in!

This is the full layout. I used some fun papers from a few different collections. The background is from Heart Day, one of my new favorite collections.

I love the title on this layout and the journaling card worked out perfectly right under it. I did my journaling on that and really love how that turned out.

I made 3 clusters on the layout using the cork Snowflakes from SpiegelMom Scraps store and also the Triple Axle and Build a Snowman sequin mixes.

I love the clusters of snowflakes and sequins!!

You can also see I used some houndstooth tissue paper under the photos and around the clusters.

I love the different layers I created behind the photos with the tissue paper and the patterned papers.

You can go ahead and watch my process video below or on my YouTube channel:

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! I hope you enjoyed seeing my layout! Have a great scrappy week!

Cultivating Creativity #1 ~ Be Inspired by Candy

Hello and happy Wednesday!! I am so glad it’s Wednesday! Haha! I feel like I’m drowning this week and am so excited for the weekend to be here. But, for today, I am excited to share a fun new series on my channel!

I have been doing a kit series on my channel with some friends on YouTube for the past year and it has been super fun! As the new year came around we started talking about maybe changing up the challenge a bit and doing something different together. We decided on a bi-weekly challenge that we will post on Tuesdays. Each time one of us will pick a new challenge and all work on that. It will be so fun to see how differently we are inspired each week.

So, for this first week, Khristina challenged us to be inspired by candy some way. At first I really wasn’t sure what on earth I was going to do, but then Hannah and I were talking and she mentioned I could be inspired by skittles or their little saying ‘Taste the Rainbow’. When she said that I mulled that around for a few days and then it hit me! My middle son Brynnan used to talk about how his favorite color was “100 colors”. It’s one of my favorite memories and I just KNEW that was what my layout was going to be about.

This is my finished layout. I’m so happy with how it turned out!! I used my December Clique kit and the Wonder collection Thickers.

I’m going to do the journaling on the card that I tucked in the glassine bag above the photo.

I really loved using this cut file from The Cut Shoppe. It’s one of my favorite alphas from her!

I put one of the cork butterflies from the newish Pink Paislee colledction, Moonstruck, in each cluster.

I kept each cluster really simple and I just LOVE the little pieces together in this top cluster.

I love this photo of Brynnan. It’s not actually an accurate photo of him at the time he said this, but I thought it was cute and it’s one that I had so I decided to use it.

These pretty acetate pieces in this cluster are from the Illustrated Faith collection called ‘You Are Loved’.

I hope you enjoyed watching my pro

Scrappy Challenge

Hello my scrappy friends! I am back today with a fun scrappy challenge for you!! If you don’t already know, I have a group on facebook that I host with Roni Sue Scrapper called Scrappy Challenges and we like to do fun things to challenge us while scrapbooking. It’s been a while since we did a challenge so last week we picked one out and all scrapbooked using it. This time around Jennifer challenged us to scrapbook using a holiday themed collection without a holiday photo or a holiday photo with a non themed holiday collection. I chose to do the latter and I had so much fun using the newish Illustrated Faith You Are Loved collection.

This is the layout I ended up making. I really like how it turned out! This collection is super fun and has really bright and lovely colors.

The embellishments I used were from the Clique Kits December 2016 kit. I really love this kit that they put together!!

These acetate arrows were so cute, I just had to include them!!

I did a little bit of journaling about the photos and I really was happy with how I didn’t go over board with that. I have a tendancy to ramble on with my journaling, but this just flowed really well.

My title was simple and very straight forward. Sometimes, those are just the best title, at least in my opinion!

You can watch my process video below:

I hope you have a wonderful and scrappy week! Make sure to come on over to the facebook group to check out all the other layouts!
