Let’s Get Organized

It’s a new year, are you ready to start organizing again??!!:) I know I am. The last month has been kind of a bomb in my house. I need to get my life back in order!

What better way to start the year out right than with organizing holiday decorations? Yes, it’s true, I haven’t put my Christmas decorations away yet and it’s already January 7th. Anyone else in the same boat as me? I have a couple of excuses as to why. The biggest one is that I’ve felt lazy and not motivated to clean since Christmas… Oh, wait, I did have my kids clean so there was a little bit of my job getting done, I was just having the kids do it:) Hehe

I am going to change up how I do my organizing this year, too. I have an idea of what I want to do, but I haven’t completely made up my mind yet, SO this week I will be working on cleaning up Christmas and finding homes for new toys and presents. I will be organizing and revamping our chores and cleaning schedules for the kids and figuring out a reward system for them this week as well. Is it weird that I’m excited about that last part? Putting my kids to work makes me giddy:) LOL

Here’s my weekly plan:

Monday ~ Take down Christmas tree and put away lights and decor.

Tuesday ~ Take Christmas decor bins to storage unit. Organize new presents from Christmas.

Wednesday ~ Figure out what chore chart I want to use and what reward system.

Thursday ~ Make new chore chart and introduce to the boys.

Friday ~ Put the new chore chart into action.

It’s an easy week. I think we all need easy weeks:) And I’m going to be researching different organizing plans and ideas as well, so I won’t be slacking off.

Here are a few blogs I’ve found ideas at so far:

Delightful Order is doing a monthly organizing challenge

A Bowl Full of Lemons did a great 14 week organizing challenge at the end of 2012.

Our Thrifty Ideas has a post on chore charts.

I Heart Organizing has a lot of great organizing posts.

The Real Thing with the Coake Family has a great command central on the fridge.

Clean & Scentsible is doing a great organizing challenge.

Those are just a few of the blogs that are hosting challenges and have great ideas. I hope you find something that works for you!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Yep, I haven’t cleaned up Christmas, either. I was thinking of trying to hit that today. Argh. Really not looking forward to it.
