This is the week I’ve been DREEDING!! I’ve worked on this area once this year before now and I really should keep it up on a weekly basis. I just get too lazy and caught up in doing other things. I have high hopes for myself, but I often let myself down. LOL Actually, I just looked at my weekly schedule and it IS part of my weekly chores to clean my desk area! Friday I have down to clean the laundry room and desk areas. *SIGH*
Well, last week I didn’t do too well with my blogging every day idea. Haha. I had a feeling that would happen. If I don’t do it in advance I just don’t do it. It’s that simple. SO, I’m going to stick with what I’ve been doing the whole year long.
Can you BELIEVE there are only 3 weeks left in this year??!! Holy COW!! I’m freaking out! It feels not too long ago that this year was starting and I was beginning my whole organizing challenge and blogging adventure. This week in my spare time I’m going to go over my New Years Resolutions and see how I did. I’ll come back here and post about each one and tell you my new resolutions for 2013. I’m excited!:)
With all that being said, let’s move on to this weeks plan:
Monday – Clean off main computer desk, Find homes for odd things (things that don’t belong or should go somewhere else), DUST!!!!
Tuesday – Organized accordion file papers into file cabinet
Wednesday – Clean out homework desk drawers & reorganize, throw out what we don’t need/use anymore
Thursday – Organize toolbox area
Friday – File away papers on the printer, finish up any other organizing to be done for boys’ homework area.
Notes: SEW, SEW, SEW!! (I’m very behind in my sewing for Christmas. I’m stressing about it!)
Here are some before pictures of the office area in our basement:
We have 2 L-shaped desks that are together, which works pretty well for us. My husband has his own desk for all of his computers and gaming stuff in the front there. He’s the lucky one and has an iMac. The computer in the back is our shared family one. Mark takes his iMac to work during the week so we share the other one during the week.
Mark got this TV for a gaming TV only. He has his older systems hooked up to it. It used to be upstairs, but since we put up the Christmas tree last week, we moved it downstairs to make room for that. I’m sure it’ll probably stay here though. I’m fine with it. You can also see the new homework area I have set up for the kids.
A closer look at my messy desk area. It seriously drives me crazy how messy the desk gets!! but I just ignore it. LOL
The kids’ desk drawers are FILLED with so much junk! I can’t wait to go through them (I said that with a little bit of sarcasm in my voice:) LOL Could you tell?)
So, that is the area I will be working on organizing this week. I am going to be working on making new chore charts for Jonas and Brynnan and possibly Tinian too. We’ll see. I got a cute file from the Silhouette online store and I want to try using that for a while and see how it works. I’m going to start giving the boys an allowance every week, but, in order to earn their allowence they have to do their chore. I’m thinking that we’ll start with a daily chore, something easy like making sure Nemo has water or picking up their toys…. it’ll be a few easy things each day that need to get done to help me keep the house more clean.
I’ve been stressing out about having to clean the house all by myself and it just dawned on me that I have kids who need to learn to keep it clean and to clean it themselves. SO, my big idea is to make up daily chores that HAVE to be done and they will earn money for doing them EVERY day! Woohoo!! I just hope it works for more than a week! I will probably not get this chore chart done until after Christmas, more than likely, so I’ll do a post on it as soon as I get it going:)
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you’re having a wonderful Monday!! Please share with us what you are organizing! I’d love to hear about it!:)
I need to get better about having the kids do chores, too. It’s an issue for me. (Let’s get physical!!)
I think giving the little one chores too is a great idea. I have had Joe doing chores for a while now. He started out with ones like putting his own pull up in the pail and putting his blanket on his bed in the morning. Even though he is now only three we have moved up to making his bed and he can do it!
great idea! The boys will love getting a little money! It adds up! I have been throwing around the idea of using a token system for rewarding good behavior. They would have to earn token to “buy” movie/computer/videogame time. The lady who told me about it loved the system… but money is equally enticing! Love ya!
