Good morning! How are you on this Saturday? I hope well and that you’re not experiencing too much snow! We’ve had at least a foot in the last few days and I’m ready for it to be gone again!
Anyway, today I have another simple wood craft for you and it’s featuring one of my favorite things, a chevron pattern!! Yay! I LOVE chevron patterns and I just can’t get enough of them.
I got the idea for this project on pinterest, of course!, but I went to 3 different craft stores and could NOT find a wood heart big enough to make for a door decoration. I was pretty bummed about that, but I did find a smallish heart with a hemp hanger attached to it already so I bought it and got to work.
I painted the whole heart grey first, then I cut out a chevron pattern on my silhouette out of cardstock. I did this a few times before I was happy with the size. I was originally going to use the cardstock just as a trial stand in for vinyl to pick out the size of the chevron, but once I got the right size chevron I got lazy and decided just to use the cardstock.
That was a BIG MISTAKE!! This is what my heart looked like when I pulled up the stencils. *SIGH*
It sometimes can go under the cardstock if you don’t hold it down tight enough and that’s exactly what happened. I knew it was a possibility, but I just thought I could keep it all down and it would work out fine.
There were globs of red paint in a few places so I quickly grab a tissue and started cleaning the red off that wasn’t supposed to be on the grey.
Once the red chevron strips were dry I got to work painting the run over red parts grey and the project turned out just fine. Yay! Don’t you love it when that happens?!! I do!
I contemplated cutting out the word ‘Love’ in pink vinyl, but decided I liked it with just the chevron pattern. I might change my mind after this post goes live, though! lol, but I’m a woman, right? That’s my perogative! 🙂
I also have this Valentine’s Day decoration up for sale in my Etsy shop if you would like to purchase it. Hey, I’d even be willing to cut out the ‘love’ word in vinyl if you want me to for no extra cost! Just let me know! Or, if you want one, but with different colors I can do that too! Just shoot me a message on Etsy and I’d love to work something out with you!
Well, that’s it for today! I hope you’ll come back on Monday for a new organizing post. For the next 2 weeks I have Valentine’s Day posts to share with you all the fun crafts I’ve been busy making!
Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a great weekend!
