I wanted to jump on real quick and wish you all a happy Vday! How is yours going so far? Any special plans? Mark and I never make a big deal out of Vday. He hates it, like most men do, but this year I am getting crafty and having fun with it!! I think it has made me realize how fun this holiday is and how it’s nice to have a special day dedicated to showing love to everyone. No matter if people take advantage of the holiday and try to make tons of money. Why should that put a damper on my celebration of loving those I care about!!
To planned on starting the morning out by making heart shaped french toast, but it didn’t happern. My kids (I guess I should say, just Jonas) love to whine in the morning so I completely forgot about this idea!! Haha. I wish I would’ve remembered, Jonas would’ve eaten it with no problem!! I knew I was forgetting something!
I made Valentine’s day shirts for all 3 boys:
I’ll talk more about these shirts tomorrow in a post dedicated to them. I’m excited to show you how I did it all.
I got the idea from pinterest. I’ve been seeing so many cute Vday shirts and my 5 year old has been asking for one so when I saw this pin the other night I just had to do it!! Of course I put a little twist on the idea to make it more boyish. I was going to go around the edges of the heart just to reinforce the shape, but after seeing how awesome it looked just sewing the individual ribbons I didn’t want to ruin it with my horrible attempt to sew a heart! lol
For the baby I did something different because his shirt was a little special. It’s an old shirt. It also had huge stains on it. I had some red felt. I decided to cut out the hearts and use those on his shirt. Red is a boys color. Brynnan LOVES that color! But all the red ribbons I have are really girly so doing a red ribbon shirt was out of the question! lol
(Sorry about the weird coloring on the above picture. I have no idea what happened! LOL)
These are the valentines I made for them to take to school. I got the idea for the cards for their class from pinterest, again!:) I took picture of them with a heart I had cut out with my Silhouette. Then I cut them out in photoshop and made up the background. I printed them as wallets and bought enough for family, Therapists, teachers, bus drivers and friends so they were quite pricey. I don’t know if we’ll do them again for school friends and teachers, but definitely for family. It was a lot of work and took weeks of preparation. I got the bag topper from pick your plum and put some candy and Valentine’s in baggies for their teachers.
I bought some Target $1 spot suckers and Mark was kind enough to tape those to the back of the pictures last night. I was working like crazy to finish the boys’ shirts!! I didn’t get done with them until about 11pm. But I’m glad I did them! It was fun:)
After the boys were off to school my hubby sent me on a scavenger hunt!! I was totally surprised! He was giving plasma this morning so Brynnan came and woke me up at 6:30, because I hit snooze on the alarm. He sometimes goes downstairs to say hi to Mark in the morning so he left the room for a bit and then came and told me, “There’s something on your bathroom door, Mommy!!” I went down to check it out. The poem says:
“Fair Marrow & Happy Valentine’s Day!
You’re off on a Quest,
There’s no time to waste
Pick up al the cards in order,
& follow their instructions with haste.
Now look behind the place
Upon which sits your toothpaste”
I looked there and two other places before getting to the 4th clue (I know that ads up to 5 clues, but the third one was silly and made me laugh:
And then I found the final clue which led me to my present:
YAY! I love Reese’s!! It was a lot of fun and totally unexpected! Thanks Honey!:)
Mark and I are going out to lunch together. It was a last minute thing we decided to do. We’re broke so paying for dinner AND a babysitter just puts a damper on it, you know? So, we’re taking Tini with us for lunch while Brynnan is at therapy. Yay! I’m excited!
I bought him a little gift and I’m making him a card as soon as I get done with this post. I’m going to dress it all up in a nice little bag for him and hopefully he will feel loved and special! I’m sure it will be a good day!
OH! I can’t forget that I’m going into my 5 year olds Kindergarten for their Valentine’s Day party. I am going to be in charge of the cake walk. I’m excited. I ordered cupcakes from Albies, SO expensive!! And since I ordered them they weren’t as cool as the other ones, but oh well. They’re going to be eaten and the kids won’t care what they look like anyway.
So, HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!! Hope you have a wonderful day full of LOVE!:) Thanks for stopping by!! (Don’t forget to enter my current giveaway!!)
