This is a new post series I will be doing every Saturday, I hope!! I’m bad at keeping up with this blog weekly so I’m hoping I can stay on top of this for the next little while at least.
Santa was VERY VERY WONDERFUL to me this year and he spoiled me! I got a lot of presents that I have been wanting for fashion reasons and because I don’t usually get to spend money on clothes for myself very often. That was exciting! My husband is a VERY good shopper I have learned over the last 9 years!!:)
Anyway, the most exciting gift I received was my Silhouette Cameo, which you might have read about on Thursday, how I organized my desk to fit it with everything else I have on my craft table.
I wasn’t able to really test out my new toy until after the kids went to bed on Christmas Day. The bundle that Mark bought on Amazon came with a $10 download gift card so I spent a lot of time in their online shape store figuring out what I wanted to buy to play around with. I bought some box patterns and an album and a couple little figures.
I wanted to test out the boxes on some scrapbook paper I had so I got it set up in the Silhouette Studio Software program (kinda like Photoshop, but at the same time totally different!)
Here are some pictures of my adventures in learning the Silhouette Cameo:
Here’s the beautiful machine in all it’s glory:) The first thing we tried cutting right away was my name. It worked:)
I put the paper on the sticky mat and loaded into the Silhouette and hit cut on the program on my computer and it started cutting. It’s pretty loud, but I guess that’s expected since it is doing a lot of work.
I asked Mark to come take pictures of me doing everything. He’s so nice to help me out!!
The screen that is up on the machine says Load Cutting Mat or Load Media. I was using the cutting mat so I hit the enter button and it took the mat and paper into the roller.
I hit the cut button again and had it cut the same box. Here it is cutting.
The LCD panel says working while it’s cutting.
I had to keep moving the machine forward on the table so it would have room in the back. I really needed a better space for it!
When it Finishes it says Unload. You hit the enter button and out it comes.
I peeled away from the bottom first.
I used an Xacto knife to lift the shape off the mat.
And here are the finished boxes!
Aren’t they cute? They were fun to make, even though all I did was watch them being cut and then put it together with the guided lines:) I tried making some bigger boxes a day later and I did a fun little project with the vinyl yesterday. I have a bunch more projects that I want to do so I hope you’ll come back to see those!
I hope you’ll have a fun New Year’s Celebration!! See you next week!:)
These are super cute!
