Exercise, Fitness, Life, Losing Weight

Fitness Tuesday

Helllooooo! It’s been a couple weeks since I first posted about fitness so I thought I’d jump on and say a few words. I haven’t been doing very good lately about trying to lose weight. I’m still eating too much and only working out about one or two days a week. My husband on the other hand has lost about 10 lbs!! *SIGH* If only I could skip lunch like he has been doing, but that’s a hard meal to skip. Heck, any meal is hard to skip! I like to eat. LOL

Anyway, last week I found a fun new blog called The Spotted Blonde. She’s doing  a new blog series on Friday’s called Fitness Friday and this last week she said something that really hit home and made me realize what I have to do. She said, “…set goals that are achievable!… Its important that we don’t set ourselves up to fail!”

And she is So right! I haven’t been making achievable goals. I mean, I haven’t been making any goals, really. I have only been saying I want to lose weight, but there hasn’t been any thought into how or when or why I’m doing it. After reading her post I decided that every week I will make one new goal and achieve it. If I don’t it will stay the same the next week, but I will continue to work towards new goals each week.

This week, my goal is to wake up at 5:30 every morning and workout. I know what some of you might be thinking, “5:30?!!! Is she crazy???!!”. That is what I’m wondering myself! lol But in all honesty, I know that I’m not going to work out unless I do it FIRST thing in the morning. The kids wake up at 6:30 and need me to guide them through their morning routine, no matter how many different charts I make to help them! So, there’s no way I can do it at 6:30, which would be more ideal. Then I run errands and clean until about 10 and after that I’m babysitting and taking care of kids and other things so there just isn’t any other time in my day to feasibly do it. I probably could squeeze it in somewhere, but I know myself, if I could be doing something else, more fun, I’ll do it! So, 5:30am it is! And this week I am NOT backing down! I am going to wake up every weekday at 5:30, drag my butt out of bed and get on that exercise bike!

I’ve decided to ride the exercise bike this week for 2 reasons; #1) it’s kind of easy and #2) I can read my scriptures while doing it, which kills 2 birds with one stone and makes my life so much easier. I can read 2 chapters in about 30 minutes, sometimes less, then jump in the shower and get all ready for the day before the kids wake up. It’s perfect! 🙂 and totally achievable! I can really do this! I’ve already succeeded yesterday and as you read this I could possibly be just finishing up my workout!

What is your workout schedule like? Do you have a set time that you do it? What kind of workouts do you like to do? I know that as the weeks go on I’m going to work in doing Zumba and some weight lifting exercises and tummy stiffening ones too. I have actually been doing crunches in the mornings when I workout, or when I don’t, because I can do 20 of them real quick and feel like I did some good work, yeah, that’s how out of shape I am! It’s kind of sad, but I’m working on it and that’s what matter!

I’d love for you to share what you do to keep yourself in shape or how you’re losing weight or even maintaining your weight!

Well, thanks for stopping by! Be sure to come back tomorrow! I have a really simple craft post going up. Have a great Tuesday!

  1. Keep going Meg, you can do it! instead of skipping lunch you should just have a salad. Same for Mark. Skipping meals is actually counter-productive… but I love salad! Especially if one day a week you grill up some chicken for salads all week and make a chicken salad for lunches. I love going to the Y because of the childcare. And I love classes… they are more motivating for me. I go to the Y 5 days a week… now if only I could give up the sweets… sweets are my downfall!
