Hello scrappers! I have a super fun layout for you today! You can head on over to the Get It Scrapped blog to see my supply list, as well as the other team members who were inspired by this assignment.
If you’ve never heard of Humans Of New York (HONY) you can read more about it here. Basically, this photographer started photographing people on the streets of New York City. It has evolved into a world wide project where he tells the stories of the people he photographs. Our assignment was to make a layout based on the Humans Of New York photography project. I contemplated on what I wanted to do for this layout assignment for a long time. I eventually landed on making a layout about my middle son, Brynnan. I often feel like being the middle child he gets neglected, I don’t know what it is about the middle kid, but I really thing they don’t get as much attention. I decided to talk to him about doing a layout of him and seeing what story he wanted me to tell.
Well, his FAVORITE TV show right now is ‘Lego Ninjago’. He literally watches it every day for hours, if I let him. And he watches the same episodes over and over because Netflix only has a couple seasons available. Haha!
So, I took some photos of him playing with his little Lego Ninjago toys and had so much fun scrapping them.
This is my finished layout. I wanted to do some mixed media on the background behind the photos. I used Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Coral Me Crazy and Texturez Teal Me No Lies (I buy from the SpiegelMom scraps store, I’m on here design team).
I love this top cluster! I wanted to put Brynnan’s name on the layout, along with his age and this cluster helped ground that information.
I also used the 2 Cool 4 U sequin mix from the SMS shop.
I used a lot of rub-ons on this layout and it was so fun! I’m not really big on using them so it was a little bit out of my comfort zone.
I really love these cute little ephemera pieces from the December Clique Kits kit.
Instead of me doing the writing I had Brynnan write on a project life card. He doesn’t have the greatest handwriting and I didn’t want that to take away from the design of the layout so I decided to make a little pocket behind the photo to put the journaling card in. I stapled a little black polka dotted tag to the top and I really love how it looks!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Be sure to head on over to Get It Scrapped to check out the post highlighting all the layouts the creative team made. You can also watch my process video below:
