30 Days of Sketches with Christy ~ School Days Using my Sketch

Hello hello friends! I have a new layout to share with you that I hope you enjoy! I was asked by my good friend Christy, from Christy’s Beautiful Life, to make a sketch for her 30 days of sketches challenge and here is what I came up with:

When I sat down I had no idea what I was going to create, but I liked the idea of having 2 photos of different sizes on the layout and then also having the border strips on the sides. I started with those two ideas and ended up with this sketch. I wasn’t too impressed with it, but Christy liked it so I went with it.

Here is the layout I ended up making. I really love how it turned out, but it is quite different from the sketch! Instead of doing a diagonal embellishment trail I decided to use an old cut file and put it across the top of the layout. I also added an extra photo to fill up that space at the top right.

Isn’t this photo of Jonas just adorable?!! Even though he’s not smiling I just love this photo. It’s totally in the moment and perfect!

I think love this cute little apple wood veneer and the potty boy so I made a little cluster down in the bottom right hand corner with a die cut ampersand. I added some black enamel stars to finish off this area.

I made sure to add a few different patterns and layers to create a bit more interest. This cute tag on the right came from an old We R Memory Keepers school collection sticker pack. I used some white enamel stars and that cute pencil from an Amy Tangerine ephemera pack.

I had this ‘School Days’ 3d sticker and I thought it was perfect for the title. I didn’t really have an idea of another title so using a sticker or predesigned title makes life so much easier.

Here’s a look at the cut file. I cut it out so long ago that I don’t remember where I got it from, but I imagine it was the Silhouette Design Store.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my take on my own sketch. It was really interesting to use a sketch I had made and totally going a different route. I usually do that with other peoples sketches, but I thought for sure with my own I would stick closer to what I had mapped out. I love how the layout turned out and I;m so excited I was able to play along with Christy.
