Hello and welcome back to my blog! I am up over on the Get it Scrapped blog today with some of the other fabulous Creative Team Members. Our assignement was to pick a decade and be inspired to scrap a page. I picked the 1980’s because, well, that was the decade I was born in.
I had also actually been thinking about a specific memory from that time, when I was about 2 or 3. Some of you might remember the Cabbage Patch Kid Dolls and how huge they were in the early to mid 80’s. My parents gave my sister and me a doll each and I vividly remember when my sister opened hers and what my dad said. Isn’t that crazy how there are little moments in life that stand out like that? I mean, I was 2 years old!!
Ok, so let’s move onto my layout:
When I first got this assignment I had immediately thought of the Wonder Collection, that’s a year or two years old. I had bought some of the papers and the alpha, but hadn’t used them yet. I was so excited to pull them out for this layout.
I found the photo in the top left in a pile of old photos my mom had sent me a few years ago. It was a Christmas picture, but not from the specific year we got the dolls. I was really excited to use it on this layout though because it does portray that it’s Christmas.
I then went to google, my trusty companion a lot of the time, and looked for images of Cabbage Patch Kids. I found the logo and this blonde haired doll and they were perfect!
I first started thinking I would title the layout something like ‘the 80’s’ or ‘a 1980’s Christmas’, but the more and more I thought about it I just really didn’t like them. I took to the internet to ask my scrappy friends and between two friends I came out with this title and I just love it!! ‘Proud Member of the Cabbage Patch Fad’, it’s so perfect!

Super cute layout! Love that you used an 80s pictures and not just items that looked older!
Thanks Celia!! I’m so glad I had a photo from that era!! I don’t have many from when I was little.
