Secret Not Secret October Kit ~ Layout #1 ~ Wonderful Kid

Hello and happy Friday!! I am SO excited for today for more than one reason! The first is that next week I don’t have to work because my kids get a week off of school for Thanksgiving! Woohoo!! I am beyond ecstatic because I have been working as a school playground aide and it is a thankless job. Quite literally. But, I digress…..

Now let me show you the other reason I am excited about today……

This is my very first layout using my October Secret Not Secret Kit!!! Eeeee!! I was so excited about this kit and I am in love with all the layouts I made using it! This one I created using a challenge from the Kit Club group Scrap Party, which happens once a month and is full of fun and awesome challenges and inspiration from members. The challenge was to create a layout in 30 minutes. I made this one in 27 minutes AND also used mixed media in the process!!! (If you can’t tell, I am really impressed with myself. haha)

This cluster in the top right hand corner is filled with awesomeness! I made 2 big banners for my title and embellishing to rest on. I had a problem with on of the banners being to small to meet the edge of the paper, so I solved that by adding my mixed media using my stencil that came in the kit with the copper Martha Stewart Copper paint. I am so in LOVE with this paint, and the stencil as well!!

I used a couple die cut pieces and puffy stickers to finish off this cluster as well as some splatters of copper paint.

I really tried to keep the mixed media not so perfect. I had a problem with it seeping through because the paint was a lot thinner than I expected, but it worked out in the end. If something gets a little wonky, just go with it. I love the imperfect look!

I made sure to stick with the rule of 3’s and used the mixed media in three areas on the layout. I love how t looks and brings attention to the details.

This layout is definitely one of my favorites that I have made lately and it only took 30 minutes to make!! Sometimes, that’s all it takes.
