Hello and welcome back to my crafty blog today!! I am REALLY excited about this post!! I applied to be on the Victoria Marie FaceBook group design team last year and I made it!! Today is my first challenge and I am so pleased with how it turned out!!
I don’t know about you, but I’m a sucker for cutesy food ideas. I was browsing on pinterest one day last month and I came across this puppy. Isn’t it so funny and adorable?!! So, after seeing that I knew exactly what kind of layout I wanted to make for my very first challenge as a Victoria Marie DT member!!
I have a partner in this little adventure today, her name is Cacie and you can find her channel on YouTube as Cacie’s Creations. She posted all about our challenge in the Victoria Marie FB group so head on over there to check it out!
You can find my video on my channel below:
Here are a few photos of my finished layout:
When I saw the pin, I knew the story I wanted to tell, and it was a very literal inspiration. We have a tradition of eating store bought donuts every Saturday morning and having a nice family breakfast together at the table. We’ve been doing this for at least 3 years now, but I’ve never scrapbooked about it. This challenge gave me that push I needed to get this tradition down on paper.
I found a donut Print and Cut file on the Silhouette Design Store and fell in LOVE with it! I printed it off and cut it out using my brand spanking new Silhouette Curio! It was so much fun! They don’t have the same cut file I used, but here’s one similar to it.
I didn’t have a photo to use on my layout so I decided to leave a lot of empty space in case I want to add a photo down the road. I also decided to use a glassine bag to put hidden journaling.
I decorated the glassine bag with some paper and embellishments, so it wouldn’t look too plain and boring and I made sure to crumple the paper the same way I did with the top and bottom borders.
Here’s a closer view of the bottom of the glassine bag. I used a rubber banner that says ‘favorite’ on it as well as 2 smaller cut files of the same donut. I decided to make these two little donuts into flair by adding a clear epoxy sticker onto them.
For the title I wanted to use one of the print and cut pieces as an ‘o’ and I really love how it turned out! I used three different alpha sets for my title. The big gold one is ‘All Things: Alphas & Numbers’ from My Mind’s Eye, the blue circle one is ‘Yo-Yo’ from Dear Lizzy (they’re chipboard thickers), and the last one is Basically Essential Alpha Sticker Sheets from Teresa Collins.
Here’s a view of the journaling on top of the pocket.
For the journaling card I decided to print out what I wanted to write to make sure I had enough room to tell the story. I used the same blue pattern paper I had on the layout as well to back the journaling and I put a big donut print and cut piece at the top of the card so you could easily pull it in and out of the bag.
This layout was so fun to make and I’m glad I got this story down on paper finally!! I hope you’ll come on over to the group and join us in this fun little challenge!!
Thanks for stopping by today!! I’m up on the Crafty Maven Getaway YouTube channel tomorrow so come back to see the layout I made then!
