Inspired By…. Sewing

Hello my scrappy friends!! I am super excited about a new YouTube series I am doing with some of my favorite scrapbookers! The idea came from Khristina Sorge. I absolutely love her videos and her scrapping style! She is so fun and I am excited to work with this fun idea she had for a series. Each month, one of us will pick something we want everyone to be inspired by and create a layout. This kind of challenge is so much fun because we each make a layout with such different outcomes.

Khristina wanted us to be inspired by another hobby for this months challenge and I automatically knew my hobby would be sewing. There was a time when I did more sewing than scrapbooking, can you believe it?!! It’s so weird to think about how much I use to sew and now I don’t do it at all. It kinda makes me sad. I have actually been looking for some sewing projects that I can do to start getting back into it, so that might be something I can do this summer.

I have been having some mojo problems lately so to get myself excited and started on this layout I went to pinterest looking for some sewing layouts. I actually found one that I really liked, but it didn’t have any thread on it.

Isn’t it so pretty? It uses twine instead of thread, but I really liked the look of the twine of the background paper so I decided to run with that idea.

This is the layout I came up with. I didn’t want to totally copy the layout to a “T”, but it was nice to use it as inspiration to get me started. I decided that using twine was ok, because it is like thread, it’s just a little thicker. I used a Stampin’ Up pink and white twine called ‘Calypso Coral’ Bakers Twine. I bouth this so many years ago and have never used it so that was also a plus! I love using products I haven’t used that have been in my stash for a long time.

This photo is from Easter, but I decided to tell a different story on this layout. This is my youngest son who is 6. I wanted the photo to stand out and off of the layout so I used some 3d foam tape to pop the photo up. I also did the same thing with the 2 clusters of flowers around the photo.

This is the spot I am going to use for journaling. I want to type out my journlaing, but my printer is on the fritz and we need to set up the new one. For now I have the strips placed where I want them so I won’t forget. The story I want to tell is obviously about Tinian’s long hair. Ever since I can remember we have always kept his hair long, for a boy. We get a lot of slack about it from family and sometimes even strangers. I want the journaling to talk about how I hope he will always be who he wants to be and do his own thing, no matter what others think.

I layered this cardstock die cut from a My Minds Eye ephemera pack with a Prima flower embellishement. I also added a cute red button and popped it up on pop dots to be able to sit on top of the photo.

I wanted this cluster to have a little more embellishing. I used another Prima flower to make the 2 clusters cohesive and I also added a Kraft tag and a cute little vellum piece from the same My Minds Eye ephemera pack, ‘On Trend 2’.

I used American Crafts Thickers ‘Gilded’ for the title and then I also used a tag from the ‘Wildflower’ collection. I wanted to bring the twine down in this part of the layout as well so I glued it behind the ‘dream’ tag and I love how that turned out.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I know I’ve been kind of sporadic with posting and also uploading to YouTube, but I am almost done with work for the year, I work at my kids’ school, so I am hoping that I will have more time to scrapbook and upload and stay on top of things.
