Good Morning!! How are you all doing today? We are doing pretty good! We have had a wonderful week so far celebrating Christmas and family and hanging out together. It’s just been my husband and our three kids and I and that’s just the way we like it:) Nice and calm and quiet…. well, ok, not really, but you know what I mean. No traveling makes for a less stressful Christmas!

I wanted to jump on real quick and share a cute easy project I made a few weeks ago. My mom quilted a tree skirt last year, I think it was, and when I went and visited her earlier this year in March I found the middle scrap and she said I could have it. It’s been sitting on my crafting table being shuffled around from bin to bin and from pile of stuff to pile of stuff since we got home in April. When I moved into the craft room I was determined to do something with it and make it useful. I wasn’t quite sure what, but I knew I needed to put some finishing touches on it.

I went to JoAnn’s and bought some bias tape and got to work with it:

This is what I started out with. CUTE fabric, right? 🙂

I pinned the bias tape around it and sewed it on.

And this is what I ended up with:) I used white thread because I still don’t have a big supply of thread yet. I wish I would’ve had green and I didn’t even think of buying any while at JoAnn’s. Silly me!

Now I’m thinking I can use it as a mug rug (have you heard of these?) or a hot pad or something. Or maybe I can give it away as a present next Christmas:) I guess we’ll see what I decide to do later on.

A mug rug is basically a small placemat. Here are some examples I’ve seen around the internet:

CUTE, right? I love the idea, especially since I like to eat and drink while crafting. So, I might just keep it for myself and use it all year round:)

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day yesterday. I know we did. We have a two year old so of course it was filled with a lot of screaming and tantrums, but it was really comical at times:) All in all it was a good day! I’ll start blogging about presents I gifted this year beginning next week, in the new year! I have big plans for the coming year and I’m trying to get things in motion now so I’ll most likely be busy until January. My 10th Wedding anniversary is on January 3rd and the hubs and I are taking a MUCH needed vacation/anniversary trip to Sun Valley, Idaho where we honey mooned after our wedding. We’re excited to get 3 days alone together!! Woohoo!! 🙂

Sooo, I won’t be back to blogging this week or next. I’m hopping to be back on January 7th! I hope you enjoy your winter break! I’m getting my new years resolutions together and a year in review post as well so we’ll have some fun posts in the new year. I’m looking forward to blogging about it all!
