Good morning everyone! How are you today? I hope well! I’m doing GREAT; my kids started school again today!:) Yay!! Now life is slowly going back to “normal” after the holidays.
Today I thought we would talk about my plans for organizing this year. Last year I didn’t do very well with it so this year I’m determined to do better!!
I followed along with Jenn over at Clean and Scentsible with her Household Organization Diet. She started it in January 2013 and did it througout last year, but I only followed along the first few months. This year she’s changing it up a bit and I’m going to follow along again! 🙂
For January she’s doing what she calls the 30 Day Detox. I LOVE the idea!! I’ve been thinking I need to go through the house and throw out/giveaway things we don’t really use and make more space for what we actually do use. I’m very sentimental though so this is always hard for me! I hope that Jenn’s challenge will help me!
So far, I’ve gone through some of my scrapbooking stash and decided to giveaway papers I won’t use. I have gone through some of the kids’ toys, too. I’m sure I will get rid of a LOT more, but for now, I have a small pile in the garage and I think another one in the laundry room. I need to put them together without the kids getting wind of it.
Also, to go along with organizing this year I am considering a redo of my craft room. It has been a total and complete MESS the past month or 2 with all the holidays and everything going on. The kids’ toys are practically taking over the room so I decided to move them out of my craft room for good. Yay!! (Is that selfish of me? I’m taking over their playroom for myself… I feel kind of bad, but at the same time not really. Does that make sense?!!)
You might notice that I have and will be pinning a lot of craft rooms in the next month or so. If you have any ideas I would LOVE to hear them!! I know I will be back with pictures and a mood board soon, hopefully. I’m trying to decide on a color scheme, I’m torn between blue/green and purple/grey. What do you think would look good? My favorite color is purple so I thought that would be fun to use that color, but I have a lot of green and blue organzing bins. I’m so excited! I can’t wait for it to be done.
Anyway, besides going through the house and finding things we don’t use, I’ll be figuring out my daily schedule. I’m going to be more organized on a daily basis so that I can be more efficient in getting everything done that I need to. I often get sidetracked on facebook or blogs or whatever and I want to stop that. I’m going to be setting time limits and putting a rough schedule in place for each day. Here’s what I have so far and as I go through the coming week I will most likely edit and change things around.
Sunday is going to be the day that I plan out my whole week. I usually know everything that will happen for the week so I will sit down and write out a daily schedule for each day. I hope in doing it this way that I will remember to get things done more and actually do them! 🙂
I found a new printable, from Jenn at Clean and Scentsible, that will help me with my weekly planning. I used it last week and it’s really nice to have to keep things fresh on my brain. (I’m only 30 and my memory is already having a hard time!! I’m kinda scared to get any older! lol)
I started my ‘Let’s Get Organized’ blog series back in January 2012. I can’t believe it’s been that long!! It’s crazy how fast time goes by! In the first post I wrote up for the series I talked about my daily schedule and the to do lists and things that I use to help me keep track. I still use them to this day. I’ve changed up a few things since then so here’s some updated pictures of the lists I use:
I got these printable from Money Saving Mom. Click on the images to be taken to the right post so you can download them. The thing that I really like about these printables is that you can customize them to fit your life/schedule! It’s great!
With these last two forms I keep them in a plastic page protector. For the one below I check off the box as I complete each task during the month. I wasn’t very good at completing the chores on the list below so this month I’m going to work it into my schedule every week. I’ll do 2 of the chores each week of the month and that way I make sure they get done.
The printables that I downloaded were the Daily Docket and the Free Customizable Cleaning List.
Well, that’s all for today. I hope you’re having a great new year so far! I have some fun projects planned for the month so keep coming back! Thanks for stopping by!
Let’s get physical! I’m going to try my 31-day thingey today. Excited about that. I’m finding that I’m more motivated to keep things clean since we moved. Maybe it’s because I like my new house so much better…
Yes I totally understand that!! New house and things make you want to take care of them! Good luck with your 31 day cleaning! I need to start that again.
