Pinterest Pick ~ Hemming my Jeans because I’m SHORT

Yes, it’s true, I am short. And I hate it!! I can usually buy pants that aren’t too long, but I found a pair of jeans at Kohl’s that were so comfy and cute I couldn’t pass them up, no matter how much shorter they made me feel! They’re now my favorite pants to wear!! I’ve never worn jeans this comfy before!

I went on pinterest and found a tutorial on how to hem your jeans while keeping the original hem. Sounds great and it looks great, with not much effort behind it. So, I went to work:

I pinned my pants and started sewing.

Here’s one leg all finished.

It was easy and a great tutorial, the only problem I had/have with it is that since I’m so short there’s a TON of extra fabric left inside of the jeans. When I washed them they wouldn’t go back up into the leg, even after ironing them!!

This is what they looked like when I finished, before I washed them.

And this is what they look like now. I am so tired of fighting the extra fabric that I have allowed it to just hang out. It might look bad, but I can live with it. It’s not the end of the world!!:)

Thanks for stopping by!!

  1. Hello – glad you fought my tutorial helpful…if you aren’t goign to ever let the hem out just cut the extra fabric out 🙂 then you don’t have to fight it. OR use an iron hem tape to iron it up so it wont fall.

    1. I think I might just cut it. I’m not going to get any taller and I don’t wear heals so it will be ok to do! lol Thanks for the advice!!

  2. I have done the same with some of mine…just cut off the excess with pinking shears and the edge won’t fray, also use blue thread next time and no one will ever know they were hemmed!

    1. Pinking shears are on my list of sewing supplies to buy!! Right now I’m saving up for sewing scissors. I’m in desperate need of those!! Thanks for the advice Tiffani!

  3. Are you too scared to cut it off? I always get really nervous to do something drastic like that when I do a revamp of jeans into capris and have to cut the bottoms off.

I have the opposite problem and can never find jeans that are long enough!
