Silhouette Saturday ~ Valentine’s Day Craft

I was reading my parents magazine for the month and I saw a fun craft made with hearts. I thought it would be cute to make and I figured I could make all the shapes with my Silhouette, which I was totally right about!! It was so awesome to do a whole craft and not have to use scissors!! I heart my Silhouette Cameo!:)

Here’s the finished product. What do you think? The one in the magazine looked more 3dimentional because it had an open mouth, but I want to hang it up in the front room window so I figured there was no point in making it 3-D. I might redo it. LOL

This is the magazine article I saw

This is everything I used for the dark green paper. I made everything in red and the black hearts I got off the internet for free. I had to open them in illustrator and ungroup them all to get just the outline of the heart. This is the image I started out with:

When I was searching for a heart I had to make sure I searched for a vector heart so it would appear in illustrator and be an outline to export to the Silhouette program. Does that make any sense? I probably butchered that explanation. I’m not good with the lingo for illustrator, but I figured it out and got it done (my hubby is an illustrator pro so I learn a lot from him).

After I deleted everything else but the outline of the heart I exported it and had no problems opening it in Silhouette. I was really glad! Sometimes I have a problem, even with a vector image.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you have a great weekend!
